MOTOR VEHICLE LIABILITY
Serious injury can occur as a result of a motor vehicle accident. In New Jersey, the law allowing
recovery for injuries sustained as a result of a motor vehicle accident has changed and continues to
change.
New Jersey is what is termed a "no fault" state. All owners of vehicles are required by law to
maintain insurance coverage for protection in the event of an accident. The policies of insurance
contain provisions for liability coverage and for the payment of medical bills (Personal Injury
Protection). The State of New Jersey has posted the current requirements for insurance policies and
PIP benefits.
